YOUTH-8.jpg

Our youth club is based at Murrayside Community Centre, [MCD] and open to young people of high school age.  The predominant attendees are local young people within walking distance of the community center, but many young people are dropped of and collected by their parents from other parts of the town.  The youth club was facilitated at MCD in response to a gang related murder of a young man in Ipswich, in 2018.  Our youth club is a safe space for the young people to meet together every Friday evening 7pm – 9pm to play basketball, ping pong, pool, card games and have fun.  On the first Friday of every month a local artist comes in to host an art class for the young people including designing and printing their own T-shirts.  In 2023, local professional basketball coaches came to support us and have this year formed a basketball team with some of the young people called the Murrayside Spartans, they have recently played their first few matches in the basketball local league.  Many of the young people that we work with in the community, are third generation contacts that the Ark church have supported since its conception in 1984.

WORKSHOPS

We’re proud to have two amazing basketball coaches leading training sessions and hosting exciting mini-games every Friday night. It’s been incredible to watch our young people grow in skill, teamwork, and confidence — not to mention their fierce competitive spirit!

We’re also on the lookout for more passionate volunteers to join our growing programme. Whether it’s art, music, fitness, mentoring, or anything in between — if you’ve got a skill to share, we’d love to hear from you!

Coming soon: our brand-new Baking Programme, which has already got the young people buzzing with excitement!

If you’d like to get involved or offer a workshop, please get in touch — you could help make a real difference.

HSM

High School Managment

Our HSM team offers a program of support for young people in high school to help them navigate the journey through the teen years into early adulthood.  In a fun and supportive environment, our teens can share any concerns they may have and experience a safe space to share, talk and laugh through the high school years.
